Five Months Old!

Aaaaaaaand we now have on our hands a squirmy, smiley, superfun, twenty-ish pound five-month-old! Here he is with his Harry Potter pillow:

James is awesome. We’re having such a fun time getting to know him—it’s so amazing to see his little personality starting to come out. Something notable from this month: his newfound fascination with the kitties. He loves to pet them, and stares whenever they walk past. (The kitties still aren’t sure what to think of him, though.) He also loves to grab stuff (especially my hair and glasses, which is…um…SO MUCH FUN.) Lately, he’s been rolling over a LOT, both ways, and doing what look like little baby push-ups; he’s also *almost* sitting up on his own. Basically, he totally WANTS to crawl around, but isn’t quite there yet.

I have so many fun pictures from the past several weeks—hopefully, I’ll get a chance to do another post again soon. It’s (as you probably are aware) BUSY with a five-month-old.

Alright. Speaking of busy, I need to get a few things done during these very, VERY precious nap-time moments.

Four Months Old!

Happy New Year! Well, here we are in 2012, with a baby who’s already FOUR MONTHS OLD! He’s still growing like crazy—we’ll know for sure how big he is on Tuesday, at his four month check-up. Also, I have a handful of Christmas pictures to post, so hopefully I can get those up within the next few days.

It’s an overcast Sunday afternoon. The Christmas tree is up, and it’s been a generally cozy day. I find myself—for once—in silence, as both Andrew and James are napping on the couch.

Weird.

To pass this unprecedented half hour of wow-what-do-I-do-with-myself-nowness, I decided to FINALLY post a handful of pictures of James.

Three Months Old!

Wow, so time is totally flying. How on Earth is it DECEMBER already???!!!

We’re doing pretty well here. James is sleeping pretty well at night, and taking at least a couple of short naps during the day, and (as you will see in just a minute) still growing like crazy! He’s also been laughing and smiling a lot…but it’s been hard to capture those things in pictures and video. Oh, well. One day soon, I’m sure I’ll get one!

Wow, has today been a LONG day—poor Jamesbaby spent his two-month birthday getting immunized from various scary-sounding ailments (and, very tearfully, recovering from said immunizations). His doctor visit wasn’t all bad, though. Our suspicions were confirmed: we have a big baby. Here he is, all 14 pounds 9 ounces (97th percentile!) and 24″ (85th percentile) of him:

James likes his new car seat toys, especially the yellow duck.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween (a day late) from James the Baby bear! He…uh…didn’t quite love dressing up. I’m guessing this is *probably* because I insisted on shoving that bear-ear hat on his head when it was just a weeeeee bit too small to be comfortable. But, really, without the hat his costume is just bear pajamas.

Anyway. Hope y’all all had a Happy Halloween! I’ll be posting today or tomorrow with the official TWO MONTH OLD (wow, already) James v. Stuffed Harry Potter picture.

Family, Family, EVERYWHERE!

So, apparently, the last couple of weeks have been a bit busy—I just clicked over to post and realized it’s been thirteen days since the last post! There’s a good reason, though: the last two weekends have been filled with family visits!

First, we went to see my (Kayla’s) parents on their ranch. Everyone took turns holding little James:

Dude kept James warm during the chilly morning hours.

A little later, James had a deep conversation with Uncle Cody…

…and then fell asleep on Aunt Lou.

That afternoon, Dude gave James a tour of the ranch.

Some sweet ladies in town threw a grandmothers' shower for my mom and two of her friends. (About a zillion rubber duckies were procured.)

The three new babies—James, Brynlee, and Jagger

The next weekend, Andrew’s family came all the way down from Kansas City to visit!

Daddy did a lot of James soothing over the weekend…

Aunt Becca held him for a little while…

…and then James snuggled with Grandma Olson.

Needless to say, it’s been a VERY busy—but love-filled—two weeks. ♥

One month old James + Stuffed Harry Potter

Before James was born, a friend suggested we take monthly pictures of him beside a stuffed animal (or some other not-living object) to show how much he’s grown in comparison. So…here he is with Stuffed Harry Potter (thank you, Laura, for sewing him for us!)! He’s getting so big already—and we cannot believe he’s already a whole month old! Craziness.

Well. The weather is *finally* nice enough to enjoy, so we’re going to take a walk around the apartment complex. Hope you’re all doing well! We appreciate your sweet comments, even though we haven’t (yet) had time to respond to them all! Thank you for being such wonderfully supportive friends and family!
